Thoughts on a Rainy Day
Based on Rabindranath Tagore’s song, ‘আজি ঝরো ঝরো’)
On this rainy day,
With the rain and thunder playing cadences,
I don’t know why
my mind is not attentive in anything.
The mind wants –
To fly on the wild, fast-paced wind
The mind wants –
To dance about on the mad dark clouds.
The mind wants –
To know where the ‘balaka’ flies away…
The clouds float – frenzy – by,
In a dark mist of a sky,
And, out of nowhere, it came,
The sound of a waterfall – of an unknown spring.
The time is right,
For the mind to be lost,
And while it does so,
It thy engages thou heart in eternal debt.
These are the thoughts,
That comes to thy mind,
On a rainy day
my mind – lost on its own somewhere…
