Candle...
(Based
on the Theme from ‘In the Night Garden…’ by Andrew Davenport)
Candle,
burning in the dark night,
Dark as the
lost passions which failed to ignite…
The feeble
flame dances in its solitary wick,
The broken clock
goes on: tick, tock, tick…
Wishes lost,
floating in an endless void…
Of once what
was a happy and sublime sky – enjoyed
those
moments of Jesu’ joy,
Now all are
gone – except the little candle of the boy.
The boy just
stared into the darkness
Of violence
and intolerance, and
he shudders
at the thought of his bleak future –
He cries in
his room – dark and bland…
Candle,
burning in the nocturne…
Where all
died out of pain and shame and cold fright…
The feeble
flame flickers in the bleakness…
Reminiscent
of the happy memories this world had.
Memories of
golden, mellow orchards…
Memories of the
joyous, rhythmic streams…
All seem to
belong to an era.
Hell, where
we are now – lost in time?
Hatred burns
and kills down everyone,
The last
moments of peace are lost…
Now darkness
prevails, whispers of
those golden
days – now but merely a ghost…
Candle,
burning in this dark night,
Burning
despite hatred winds howl by…
Shine, oh
shine little candle…
Bring back
those moments of Jesu’ joy…
