In the Rain...

 Hector walked in the rain…

With his usual giant black umbrella and his black boot, now soaking wet, he walked. Beside him was his son, sharing his umbrella. The weather was grim, but not more than the expression on the boy’s face. They were returning from the hospital.

“Will Mom be alright, Dad?”, he asked.

“Why of course! She will be soon back home”, answered Hector.

“What did Dr. Harris say, Dad? Is she gonna come back soon?”

“Um...Yes …Yes. She is gonna come back soon. Just an epileptic shock she usually had… not much…not much…”

Harry kept a low face...

Suddenly, their umbrella flew away because of the strong wind force.

Now they were dripping wet. There was no sign of any wagons to escort them to place.

“Harry, quick, catch your pace… if we catch a cold… hold my hand”, said the father.

And with a firm grip... Hector led the way to his son.

“Dad, what happens if Mom never returns?”, Harry asked.

Hector paused a step.

“Why would you think that? Harry, listen up, you are my son. Never bring a single drop of negative thoughts in your mind. Your Mom is gonna be fine…alright?”

“Yeah…”

They continued walking in the rain.

As for Harry, his father was the strongest man he had ever met. He had never seen him cry. When Harry was nine when his mother was diagnosed with epilepsy…the doctor said it was curable, but year after year her condition worsened.  The day before, she had one of those epileptic shocks again. Hector single handedly took control of her wife, called an ambulance as fast as he could, and reached her to the nearest hospital.

“Well now that you have assured me, I am feeling quite relieved. Soon Mom will be back to bake me the choco pie pudding.  Well will you bake me one today?”, asked little Harry.

Hector said nothing. He looked forward.

Well, the wind didn’t blow away his umbrella.. he threw it away…

The rain veiled his warm tears trickling down his cheek…
