Erinnerung
(Based on ‘Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring’ by Johann Sebastian Bach)
The winds of
some past blow by,
Blow by beside
the gentle brook.
Where are
you now, my dear one?
Lost in
those great old stars?
The leaves whisper
of some moment,
The moment
where we first met,
No one
knows, except you, me
And the
whistling dear feuilles…
Dear one,
I still
remember that day,
When we laid
down on the forest floor
The sun
high above us, smiling in the sky…
And in the
woodland wind, you smiled,
Smiled like
an innocent child…
Oh, where
are you now?
The breeze winds
by,
Reminiscent
of some time in the past
We spent
together…
In the cool
shadows of the days,
No one
knows our secrets…
Your face
now glows,
Glows
radiantly in this darkness…
You are
like a flower, blooming
In the rain
of my heart…
Never to
stop…
Dear one,
I remember
that solitary moment,
Where you professed
your love…
That sweet,
tender voice,
Now hangs
helplessly
in the melancholy of mine…
Oh, where
have you gone?
I search
for you in evening’s pastures…
I search
for you in dawn’s valleys…
But you are
lost – lost forever…
Now the
memory of it comes to my mind…
And I wince,
pain engulfs me tight…
You lay
there, like one
Who was
about to die,
I gave you
my hand, you brought me close,
And whispered
words…words no one could hear
Just only
you…and only me…
The day
approached, and you,
Smiled at
my agony…
The white
face just stared lovingly at me…
And then
the eyes closed…
Leaving a
man forever – lonely!
I still
search, in the night sky,
In the
afternoon’s woodlands,
Give me a
sign, that you are still here…
Remember
the woodland path, oh dear one!
Perhaps you
come, in the dead of the night,
When every
soul rests, no sound comes,
You come
gently, and whisper,
Confessing
your love for me…
The winds
blow by,
Blow by
beside the gentle brook,
Here I lay
my chrysanthemum…
Rest in
peace, oh – Dear One!
